Sophie Ecclestone, one of the top 10 expensive buys at the inaugural WPL auction, was secured by UP Warriorz for INR 1.8 crore. She is currently No. 1 in the ICC Women's T20I rankings as she has been a key player for England, leading the wickets chart with 21 breakthroughs in the 2022 ODI World Cup. She was the joint-highest wicket-taker in WPL’s first season with 16 wickets and UPW’s top wicket-taker in 2024 with 11 wickets. At just 24, she has become a master at spinning webs around batters and this year at WPL 2025, she will be aiming to spin UPW’s fate into glory.
